What Is Clarvia?
Clarvia is a digital application created to support mental health while also helping with goal planning. The purpose of the app is to give students access to tools that can make their lives easier and more balanced. Through Clarvia, users are able to connect with licensed therapists, track their mood over time, communicate with life coaches, and even plan out their future goals. One of the unique features of the app is the personalized matching system, which uses the profile each user creates to connect them with the right type of guide, whether that is a therapist, a life coach, or both.
What Problem does Clarvia Address?
As a college student, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to keep up with everything, especially in a world where the job market and other outside factors create a lot of stress. On top of schoolwork and daily responsibilities, it is not always easy to find the right resources to support mental health or to manage the challenges that come with it. Advisors provided through school are helpful in certain ways, but many times they do not have the time, availability, or resources to fully encourage students to think ahead and start building future plans for their goals. Because of this, students are often left trying to figure things out on their own, which can make the process feel confusing and discouraging. This is where Clarvia comes in: Helping you find clarity so that you can build your vision.
Concept Development
The name Clarvia comes from combining the ideas of “clarity” and “vision” which represent the goals of the app. The design of the logo reflects these ideas as well. The logomark was carefully created to symbolize both a pathway and an iris, showing direction and focus. The style of the logo is soft and rounded with a clean, modern typeface that makes it easy to recognize. The app itself uses a calming color palette with a bright and welcoming interface so that users feel comfortable and at ease while navigating through it.Even though Clarvia was originally designed by students and for students, it can support a much wider audience. Anyone who needs guidance, whether that is emotional support or help organizing their goals, can find value in what the app provides. Clarvia is not just about finding help when it is needed. It is also about discovering a sense of clarity for the mind and building a vision for the future.
Research Conducted
Research for this project was based on student experiences and common challenges related to stress, time management, and access to support systems. Informal surveys of my peers revealed that many students feel overwhelmed balancing school, work, and personal life, and often do not know where to go for help. Secondary research also showed that while there are many apps for mental health or productivity, very few combine both in a meaningful way. These insights helped shape the core features of Clarvia, especially the integration of mood tracking with goal planning and the personalized matching system for guidance.
Features and Design Choices
The features of Clarvia were designed to be simple, useful, and supportive without adding extra stress to the user. Key features include mood tracking, goal planning tools, therapist and life coach connections, and personalized matching. The design choices reflect a calm and welcoming experience, using soft colors, rounded shapes, and clear typography to reduce visual stress. Navigation is kept straightforward so users can easily switch between different parts of the app. Each feature was intentionally designed to feel connected, reinforcing the idea that mental wellness and future planning go hand in hand.
Use of Design Conventions
Clarvia follows common mobile app design conventions to ensure the interface feels familiar and easy to use. Standard navigation patterns, such as bottom navigation bars and clear icons, help users quickly understand how to move through the app. Consistent spacing, hierarchy, and typography improve readability and guide user attention. The use of recognizable User Interface elements, like progress indicators and profile-based personalization, allows users to interact with the app without confusion. By following these conventions, the design stays intuitive while still maintaining its unique visual identity.
