Overview
I was tasked with developing an informational website/app prototype designed to teach users something new. Guided by key user interface design laws and principles, I focused on creating an experience that feels intuitive and easy to navigate. The goal was to present information in a clear, engaging way that helps users quickly understand and retain what they learn.

Project Goals
My goals for this project were to design an interface that provides an intuitive and seamless navigation experience, while presenting content in a clear and memorable way. I also aimed to thoughtfully apply key user interface laws and design principles learned throughout the semester to create an effective and user-centered design.
Process
Project Proposal
To begin my final project, I created a project proposal outlining how I planned to apply all the required user interface design laws and principles. In my proposal, I explained exactly how I planned to use each User Interface principle within my final design. If you are interested in learning more about how I planned to use each User Interface principle, click the button below.
User Interface Principles
The Zeigarnik Effect
The Zeigarnik Effect states that people tend to remember tasks that have been interrupted or left incomplete. I took advantage of this principle by incorporating a carousel indicator on my features page to guide users through the features. This helps remind the user of what hasn't been completed, as the carousel indicates what they have viewed and what still needs to be viewed.

The Multimedia Principle
The Multimedia Principle states that people tend to learn better when words and pictures are used together rather than words alone. I adhered to the Multimedia Principle by grouping text and related photos that communicate the same information throughout my features guide. By pairing these words and pictures, I can ensure that the user is able to understand the information with ease.

The Von Restorff Effect
The Von Restorff Effect states that when multiple objects are similar, the one that is visually different tends to be remembered more. Taking advantage of the Von Restorff Effect, on the Home Page, I highlighted Sony's key camera features by bolding the text and changing its font color. By doing so, I can ensure that the user will be able to remember information easily, as highlighting it makes it more memorable.

Final Prototype
For my final project, I created an informational website about Sony’s a7 camera models. The prototype includes five pages: a Home page introducing Sony and the a7 lineup, a Features page with a brief tutorial, a Models page highlighting three popular a7 cameras, a Lenses page showing compatible options, and a Where to Buy page with purchasing information.
